What is GOALR?

Think you know football?

GOALR is GUESR's football player guessing game, challenging you to identify a mystery footballer using information revealed by your guesses.

A mystery player is selected for the challenge. Your job is to work out who they are before you run out of attempts.

Every footballer you submit is compared with the mystery player across GOALR's different categories. The results reveal information about the footballer you're looking for and gradually allow you to eliminate incorrect possibilities.

A wrong answer isn't necessarily a wasted answer. If it reveals useful information, it might be exactly what leads you to the correct player.

How to Play GOALR

Start by entering the name of a footballer. Select the player and submit your guess.

GOALR compares your chosen footballer with the mystery player across the game's different categories.

Study the results carefully. Matching information tells you where you're on the right track, while differences help you understand what needs to change with your next guess.

Use each new piece of information to gradually build a profile of the mystery footballer. Then guess again.

Continue narrowing down the possibilities until you identify the player or run out of attempts.

The Half-Time Hint

Struggling to find the player? After you've made several guesses, GOALR's Half-Time Hint gives you another piece of information about the mystery footballer.

Sometimes that extra clue is enough to completely change your thinking. Of course, there's always the challenge of finding the answer without needing it.

GOALR Strategy

Your opening guess doesn't necessarily need to be somebody you genuinely believe is the answer. A good first player can simply be used to gather information.

Choose footballers with useful characteristics and then adapt based on what you discover.

If your guess rules out a particular league, nationality or position, don't ignore that information by continuing to guess players with exactly the same characteristics.

As the clues build, stop asking which footballer you're thinking of. Instead ask which footballers could actually match everything you've discovered. That's when GOALR becomes a game of deduction rather than luck.

FILMR is GUESR's film guessing game, challenging you to uncover one mystery movie using information revealed by your guesses.

You have eight attempts to find the film. Every movie you submit is compared with the mystery answer across several categories: Name · Genre · Director · Main Actor · Supporting Actor · Year · Age Rating.

Whether you're a blockbuster expert, horror obsessive, comedy fan or somebody who spends far too much time watching movies, FILMR rewards more than simply remembering film titles. You'll need to connect the clues.

How to Play FILMR

Enter a movie into the search box. Choose your film and hit ACTION!

FILMR compares your selection with the mystery movie. Study the results carefully before making your next guess.

You may discover that you've found the correct genre, director or actor. The year information can also guide you towards an older or newer movie.

Use everything you've discovered to choose your next film. You have eight attempts to uncover the answer.

Need a Hint?

Sometimes you can have several clues and still have absolutely no idea what the movie is. That's where FILMR's hint comes in.

The hint provides the mystery movie's tagline. Movie fans may recognise it immediately. Others might spend the next few minutes thinking: I KNOW I'VE HEARD THAT.

FILMR Strategy

Don't waste guesses by repeatedly choosing extremely similar films when your clues are pointing somewhere else.

Use your early attempts to establish an era, genre and potential cast or director connection. Then start combining them.

The mystery movie needs to satisfy all the information you've discovered. Finding where those clues intersect is usually the key to solving FILMR.

From legendary gaming classics to modern releases, the answer could come from different eras, developers and genres.

ARCADR compares your guesses using categories including: Developer · Release Year · Genre · PEGI Rating.

How to Play ARCADR

Search for a video game and submit your first guess. ARCADR compares your chosen game with the mystery title.

Look carefully at what matches and what doesn't. Maybe you've found the correct genre but the wrong developer. Perhaps your game was released around the same period.

Use the information from each attempt to improve your next guess. Continue until you've found the mystery game or exhausted your available attempts.

ARCADR Strategy

Build a profile rather than chasing random titles. Instead of asking what game you haven't guessed yet, ask what game matches all of this information.

A particular genre + approximate year + developer + PEGI rating creates a much smaller search space.

Sometimes the best guess isn't an attempt to immediately win. It's an attempt designed to test your theory.

RECORDR is GUESR's music artist guessing game, challenging you to identify one mystery artist or band within six guesses.

Every artist you submit is compared with the mystery answer using: Artist · Genre · Members · Origin · Debut · Gender.

Each attempt reveals more information about who you're searching for. Combine the clues. Eliminate impossible answers. Find the artist before your six guesses disappear.

How to Play RECORDR

Search for an artist or band and submit your first guess. RECORDR compares them with the mystery artist across the game's different categories.

Study the results. You might discover that you're looking for a solo artist rather than a group. Maybe you've identified their country of origin.

Use what you've learned to make a more informed second guess. Continue until you've identified the artist or used all six attempts.

Additional hint information can also point you towards one of the artist's albums. Recognise the clue? The mystery artist might suddenly become obvious.

RECORDR Strategy

Use contrasting artists when you don't have much information. Choosing several nearly identical artists at the beginning may tell you very little.

Once several categories begin matching, change your approach. Now you're no longer exploring. You're eliminating.

Combine genre, origin, member count, debut era and the other information you've collected until only realistic possibilities remain.

From famous passenger aircraft and commercial airliners to military jets and other recognisable aircraft, FLIGHTR takes the GUESR deduction format into the world of aviation.

Every guess provides information that can help you understand what type of aircraft you're searching for. Use those clues together. Eliminate aircraft that don't fit. Gradually close in on the answer.

How to Play FLIGHTR

Start by searching for an aircraft and submitting your first guess. FLIGHTR compares your selection with the mystery aircraft across the categories used within the game.

Study the information carefully. Some characteristics may match. Others won't. Each difference helps eliminate aircraft that no longer fit the profile you're building.

What is RIDDLR?

Think you're good at riddles? That's easy to say when nobody else is trying to solve them before you.

RIDDLR is GUESR's competitive multiplayer riddle game, allowing players to create a room, invite their friends and compete to solve puzzles as quickly as possible.

Everyone receives the same riddle. Everyone has the same opportunity to solve it. But somebody has to get there first.

How to Play RIDDLR

One player begins by creating a room. RIDDLR generates a room code or invitation link that can be shared with other players.

Once everybody is ready, start the match. A riddle appears. The race begins.

Read it carefully. Work out the solution. Submit your answer. Getting it right matters. Getting it right before everyone else matters even more.

Two-Player & Multiplayer Modes

With two players, RIDDLR becomes a direct head-to-head battle. Choose between Best of 3, Best of 5 or Best of 7.

With larger groups, RIDDLR uses a points-based system. Players earn points based on their finishing position after correctly solving each riddle.

RIDDLR Strategy

Read the question carefully. Riddles frequently work by encouraging you to make an assumption that isn't actually stated.

Pay attention to unusual wording. Think about alternative meanings. And don't immediately submit the first answer that enters your head unless you're confident.

But don't spend forever either. Remember: you aren't only trying to solve the riddle. You're trying to solve it before everybody else.
